  • Join us at for our Digital Basics & Online Safety program at Cook Street Village Activity Centre to support older adults in building digital skills!

    We’re looking for 2–3 volunteers to assist with our four 90-minute workshops (60 minutes learning, 30 minutes socializing) covering tech basics, online safety, and spotting scams online.

    When: Saturdays, Feb 21st – Mar 14th, 9:45 am – 11:45 am PST (includes setup and cleanup)
    Time Commitment: 2 hours per session + 3 onboarding sessions (2 online, 1 in-person)

    What You’ll Do:

    • Support learners with one-on-one tech guidance and encouragement

    • Assist with setup, cleanup, and refreshments

    • Engage with participants during social time

    • Provide feedback to the DBS team to improve programs

    • Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive learning environment

    Training: 3 onboarding sessions to ensure you feel confident and prepared. Flexible alternatives available if you can’t make the scheduled times.

    Requirements: Short interview and criminal record check (supported by DBS).

  • Share stories that advance digital equity on our Community Spotlight blog! Interview older adults and tech professionals to highlight experiences, insights, and ideas.

    What You’ll Do:

    You would write one blog per month, with each post reviewed collaboratively by the DBS team for guidance and feedback.

    What You’ll Gain:

    • Published writing with byline credit

    • Experience interviewing and writing for a community audience

    • Exposure to non-profit and digital equity work

    • Flexible, portfolio-friendly volunteer opportunity

  • Help amplify DBS’s work by drafting, scheduling, and supporting social media content across our platforms.

    This role supports community engagement, program promotion, and storytelling by helping share updates, events, and impact in a clear, welcoming, and accessible way.

    Volunteers will work closely with the DBS team to plan content, write short posts, and schedule them using our social media tools. This is a flexible, portfolio-friendly opportunity for someone interested in communications, nonprofit work, or digital equity.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Draft and edit short social media posts (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) with a target of 2 posts per week

    • Schedule content using provided tools and templates

    • Support promotion of programs, volunteer opportunities, and events

    • Collaborate with DBS on tone, accessibility, and messaging
